OTPD On Track Plant Depot

Recommended Posts

Remote Working from home will dry up soon until late June, don't worry I won't be struggling thanks to my company and state pensions .

Will be having a bit more time on my hands and going to proceed with this project but on a slightly different tack - Not a micro-layout but an operating diorama so I've just ordered a Scale Model Scenery BB022 400mm x 150mm Twin Track Photo Plank / Fiddle Yard / DCC Programming Track Baseboard.

Once it arrives and assembled I'll see what I can do from there

I actually meant 'Let Battle Commence'!!!! I've started:

Track trimmed and painted, the sleepers and rails are in different colours but not so obvious here. Card base added for the concrete hardstanding for portacabins and trailers.

The decal sheet for the cabins and trailers carries the name 'Richard Mayer' which was a German civil engineering contractor that went into liquidation in 2008.

Both my Plasser & Theurer Track Machines have Richard Mayer branding, UIC numbers and additional data panels.

Got to make this 'project' last!!!

19/04/20:

Card hard-standing area painted.

Peco Hayes US style Track Bumpers added (my machines are US spec and are buffer-less).

Track secured into place (I use double sided carpet tape).

Test running commenced.

No ballast in the garage so I'm buggered! Just ordered a bag off eBay.

Model problem: Does anyone know how to quieten down the Bachmann 4wh Plasser OBW-10 Track Machine with crane as it is a noisy bugger with the heavy weight on it?

Now the forum is back in action, I've painted up 1100 mm of Knightwing palisade fencing with a Warhammer silver paint and assembled it with a double gate at the track entrance and one at the rear for road access.

I HATE BALLASTING!! I always have and always will which is why I model tramways! I have no choice in this case but to ballast this thing and I know I've made a dog's breakfast of it!

Still to add figures and weather the track machines.

Thankfully imperfections will make it realistic!
