Edinburgh Trams 30.11.13

Recommended Posts

Seven-section cars, grassed racks - No wonder the costs spiralled out of control!!!

Cities larger than Edinburgh are quite happy with 5-section cars and plain track.

Aberdeen is now thinking about a single route from the airport via Dyce and crossing the city to Cove or Portlethen. I wish them luck and trust that they will learn from the mistakes of Edinburgh and actually let the contractor and the tram builder (who is usually the Project Manager) to get on with it.

Glad to know that something, held back by much financial, physical and political obstacles, is finally making progress...

At the moment the trams are being tested between the Airport and Edinburgh Park, they are supposed to be beginning testing the full route from next Monday.  A tramway for Aberdeen would be good as well however after the problems getting Edinburgh's up and running it might be a while off before anything happens on that front.
