Modern Image N gauge - Horseblock Lane

Recommended Posts

Hello, i'm new here. I've just finished my first project in N gauge. (Nice to finish a project, I've been modelling in 'O' too long!)

My son Callum decided N was for him more than a year ago and so with the impetus of a donated board (which was part of a flush sided door) I decided to make a trial layout for him to play with and for me to see how I got on with the scale change.

The result is a mixture of bought, kit-built, kit-bashed and scratch-built items that fit his criteria. He wanted working lights, signals and remotely controlled points like the 'proper' exhibition layouts he'd seen.

As it's quite dinky, the opportunity was taken to present it well so we could hit the road together if we got invites. It was also entered into Model Making competition at the N Gauge Society AGM show this year, in the Graham Farish Trophy section for portable layouts.

We'll be at the Stevenage Museum Model Railway Day on August 10th 2013. If you're in the area come and say hello!

Hello and welcome to the MRL forums matey!

The layout looks really good, and it goes to show what you can achieve with such as small scale such as N-gauge.

Look forward to hearing more about yourself and the layout!

Regards

Jack Bowley

Very nice set-up you've got. Looks like plenty of operational scope. More pics please!

I got chance to set up and take some more pics today. Hope these are ok Chris.

I also received a certificate through the post today. Horseblock Lane won gold in the Annual Model Making Competition in the small portable layout section at the N Gauge Society AGM this year. :-)

Cheers, Neal.

Hey Neal.

Great to see ya here.

Layout looks pretty damn ace! I'm only viewing on my phone, but it actually looks larger than n-gauge in photos. Certainly very different to the photo you showed me at the club.

Certainly looks worthy of the award you got. Will be great to see it in August at the exhibition.

I like the name on the side of the factory too. Very clever :)

All the best!

-Richard

Neal, where abouts in the UK are you based? We're looking for layouts to attend our Member's day on the 13/14th August...

Jack,

We're in SW Herts, but I need to be on a ferry in the evening of the 14th August! Will be interested depending on location and date.

Cheers, Neal

It's on the 13th and 14th of July. Jack put the wrong date down. Tut tut...

I think the majority of people, myself included, will be travelling on Saturday the 13th.

It'll be at the Crewe Heritage Centre most of the day. There should be a topic about it in the news section I believe.

They'll do very nicely. It's hard to believe they are N gauge!

Hi all, we took the layout on the road to exhibit it for the first time yesterday. We had a great time at the Stevenage Museum Open day and here are a few snaps of Horseblock Lane with Callum doing the honours out front.

I'm afraid you'll have to go to Stevenage Museums Facebook page to see pictures of a few other folks on this forum having fun too. (I'm guessing the moderators won't like it if we stole them for sharing!) Although a certain GWR fan who likes HSTs can be seen lurking in the shadows...

Hi,

Just a quick one to let everyone know we will be exhibiting at the Sawbridgeworth Model railway Show on March 15th 2014, which will be the first public run out this year. If anyone is also on the N Gauge Forum (where I spend too much time lurking instead of modelling) then we are also going to the NGF meet up at Riddlesdown on February 15th 2014, which is open to NGF members. If you see us at either of these come and say hello!
