The Alsager Railway Association's shows alternate between Crewe and Alsager. This year's event was at the Civic Centre in the ARA's home town and hosted a good selection of layouts in N, OO, OO9 and O scales.

I've not taken pictures of all the layouts that were there, I had Charlie with me which made photography difficult and therefore just concentrated on the layouts that really impressed me.

As usual my attention was drawn mainly to the smaller layouts but Rowlands Castle, a large-ish 4mm scale Southern Railway layout set in WWII, was actually the one I took most photos of. The buildings on this layout are among the best I've ever seen, anywhere, in any scale.

Colin French's Wagon Works was the only operating O scale present, though there were static displays in one of the side rooms. As with all Colin's O scale microlayouts this one is well designed and interesting to watch in operation.

The nose in the bottom right hand corner is Charlie's, I'd put him down while I was talking to Colin. :

Finally, and very nicely done, Horsted Keynes. This fair sized N scale layout does not try to cram a lot in but shows how rural stations spread out to use the available space. N scale is at its best doing the "trains in countryside" type layout and this is an excellent example of the genre.
